At the Davenport House visitors glimpse into the American past when the nation was new and Isaiah Davenport, a young carpenter from New England, achieved success as a builder in his adopted city. The world of early 19th century Savannah is presented through the outstanding Federal-style home Davenport built for his household. Furnished as it would have been in the 1820s, the museum is an authentic period restoration.

The Girl Scout First Headquarters was built in 1848 as the carriage house to the Andrew Low House. Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts, converted the carriage house into the Girl Scout Headquarters shortly after she founded Girl Scouting in March of 1912 in Savannah, Georgia. It was willed to the Girl Scout Council of Savannah upon her death in 1927.

Oatland Island Education Center

Oatland Island Education Center is an environmental education center and Savannah's zoo. The Center is located on 175 acres of woodlands and marsh and is home to more than 40 indigenous species. The staff provides environmental education programs.

The Department of Cultural Affairs allocates funding for cultural organizations in Savannah. The department presents and produces cultural festivals, exhibitions, spring and summer art camps, theatrical productions, and visual and performing arts classes. S.P.A.C.E. features an exhibition gallery, a 100-seat black box theater, art studios and a ceramics studio with firing kilns.

Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace

The Juliette Low Birthplace is a special treasure of Savannah's National Historic Landmark District--Savannah's only house interpreted for the Victorian period. The Wayne-Gordon House was built between 1818-1821 for Mayor James Moore Wayne, later Supreme Court Justice. The house is restored to a documented 1886 appearance, a year of extensive changes to the house. Guided tours explore the amusing and lively stories of four generations of one American family, the Gordons. Hear firsthand about the fascinating life of their remarkable daughter the Girl Scout founder, Juliette Gordon Low. Join in the "fun" Juliette Low promised the girls of the world on March 12, 1912 when she started her organization in Savannah with 18 girls.

The landmark 1853 former Central of Georgia Railroad headquarters, now Kiah Hall, houses the SCAD Museum of Art. The museum is open to the public free of charge Monday through Friday 10 am-5 pm and Sunday 1-5 pm. The SCAD Museum of Art, dedicated in May 2002, offers a year-round calendar of exhibitions, lectures, classes, special events, and tours. The museum serves as a teaching museum, with numerous class field trips and special topics classes serving the needs of the college community as well as the broader regional community and the large number of tourists to Savannah.
