About the San Luis Obispo Children's Museum Floor One - Museum Store, Volcano, Exploration Caves (OPENS 2009)>br> A grand and unexpected surprise awaits children of all ages! As guests enter the San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum, they find themselves inside a scientific research station. Video monitors overhead show footage of what construction workers discovered when they dug into the soil to prepare the foundation for the new museum. Guests enter a mock elevator that transports them “down” into the earth, opening to reveal an underground cavern that lies below the town overhead. A giant opening through to the third floor provides a dramatic and memorable effect.

History
The Museum exhibits artifacts that are representative of the history of San Luis Obispo County. Beginning with the Chumash and Salinan Indians, through the 18th and 19th centuries up to the present time.
We’ll kick off the event with a virtual day on Wednesday, July 24, hosted in collaboration with the Association of Midwest Museums (AMM). Then, we’ll gather in-person at the Hilton Columbus at Easton from July 31-August 3 for sessions, networking, and museum exploration. The SCFM Annual Conference is a time where we can celebrate the impact that museums have made on the state of South Carolina. It’s a time where we can share our successes, learn from our challenges, and grow as museum professionals.
We look forward to this year's conference September 16-18, 2024 in Laurens, SC. This year's theme is Fostering Community: There is No Museum Without "Us."

CAM is hard at work planning for the 2025 conference, set to take place from February 18–22, 2025 in San Francisco. We look forward to highlighting best practices and innovative ideas from California's museum community
The California Association of Museums is excited to continue offering in-person programming for 2025. We will not be requiring proof of COVID vaccination/s, but highly encourage vaccination and boosters. For the health and safety of our colleagues, masks are also encouraged (but not required). Capacity and spaces will be thoughtfully considered in the planning of this event.
