Gainesville’s premier nature park, Morningside Nature Center, is one of the last remaining examples of fire-dependent longleaf pine woodlands in the area. More than seven miles of trails wind through sandhill, flatwoods, cypress domes, and areas where native vegetation is being restored. Moccasin Lake Nature Park is an Environmental and Energy Education Center providing residents and visitors to beautiful Clearwater with a natural retreat from the concrete and asphalt setting of the urban environment and offers a change of vistas from the famous white sandy beaches. This is a place where you can enjoy a small piece of Florida's natural history. Come walk the nature trails where you might visually encounter egrets, ospreys, butterflies, turtles or the occasional alligator. Visit the gift shop and other live wildlife exhibits where you can see non-venomous snakes, turtles, freshwater fish, amphibians, songbirds and birds of prey.

Mote Aquarium

From its humble beginnings in tiny shed in a small Florida town, Mote Marine Laboratory has expanded to include a 10.5-acre campus in Sarasota, Fla., with field stations and public exhibits in Key West and field stations in Summerland Key and Charlotte Harbor. Florida's extensive coastline and marine and estuarine environments have enabled Mote scientists to build a platform of marine research conducted in the nearshore environment.
